Halloween

Halloween, the time of pumpkins, candies, ghosts, witches and much more, is annually celebrated on 31st October. That's the night before All Saints Day. Its origins date back thousands of years to the Celtic festival of Samhaim or The Feast of the Sun, a most significant holiday of the Celtic year. This day marked the end of summer but also the season of darkness as well as the beginning of the New Year on 1 November.

But at Colegio Europeo Almazán we're going to celebrate it a bit earlier this year. Next Friday 28th October the students of our primary school will be converted into witches, ghosts and zombies. Year 6 students are preparing lots of scary games to play. Watch this spot for our halloween photos. We'll publish the photos of the best costumes here!

Check out these Halloween games, stories and songs on the British Council website.

What's the weather like today?

Everybody talks about the weather. It's the topic of conversation everywhere. And we all know how to describe the weather in English, don't we. Why not play this game on the British Council web site and practice your weather vocabulary.

Total solar eclipse

In year 5 we studied all about the solar system in Science last month. We watched a couple of videos about lunar and solar eclipses, but we didn't have time to see them all. On this video you can see a solar eclipse which ocurred in Turkey in 2006.

Prehistoric times

At the end of the last shcool year, Year 5 (Now Year 6) did an excellent study of prehistoric times. They worked in groups to show us what life was like in the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods and  also in the Metal ages. Here are a few photos of their work.

Seahorse

Year 4 are going to start studying about living things in the next Unit of their science book. We are going to draw some pictures of our favourite animals. My favourite animal is a Seahorse. Watch this video about how seahorses live and reproduce.

The Skeleton

Putting theory into practice. Students in Year 2 had a fun science class making this Skeleton. They worked in teams to put together the Skeleton parts and learn the different parts of the body.

And now...why not have fun singing our Skeleton dance?
